I use an iPhone 15 Pro for this tutorial. I use a 9th generation iPad – that is no longer available to buy and that I bought for $100 off on Black Friday – and the instructions are fairly similar. The 10th generation iPad is still available this year for $100 off.

1. Open the Shortcuts app and select the plus sign at the top right-hand corner.

2. Use the Add Action button or use the search bar at the bottom. Search Open App

3. Select the app you want to open. We’re using Pinterest for this example.

If you want to continue the shortcut, use the search box to add to the shortcut.

4. Toggle the dropdown arrow next to Open App (Default text may vary).

5. Select Rename and it should default to Open Pinterest.

6. Toggle the dropdown arrow again and select Add to Home Screen.

7. Select the icon to the left of the Shortcut’s name.

8. Select Choose Photo or Choose File to open the Pinterest icon image file.

9. Select the Pinterest icon.

10. Select Choose.

11. Drag the icon to the appropriate space on your home screen.

Repeat as needed.
